el_class=&#8221;box-shadow-column&#8221;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;20753&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; onclick=&#8221;link_image&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>Ray Gallagher, MUSICAL DIRECTOR<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ray was born in Kent and has grown up around music, learning piano and trombone as a child as well as singing in his local church choir.\u00a0 He studied Practical Musicianship at Hull University and graduated with a 2:1 BMus(Hons), going on to conduct Hull Philharmonic Youth Orchestra from 1997 to 2007 whilst also teaching music.\u00a0 He moved to South Yorkshire in 2007 and continued to accompany and direct a wide range of music and musical theatre groups.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ray joined the choir in 2021 as Musical Director.\u00a0 He has worked with the choir in the past when he stood in as accompanist for a time and we are happy to have him back as MD.\u00a0 Ray currently teaches music and musical theatre and is currently Organist and Choirmaster at Whiston Parish Church as well as being involved with several theatre groups in South Yorkshire.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row el_class=&#8221;courses-section&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; onclick=&#8221;link_image&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>Joanne Bostandji, ACCOMPANIST<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Joanne Bostandji, nee Porter, was born and raised in Doncaster.\u00a0 She started her musical training with piano lessons at age 9 followed by learning the clarinet and recorder, completing Grade 8 on all three instruments during her time at secondary school.\u00a0 Deciding to continue her music studies in university, Joanne received a Bachelor of Music with Honours (Piano) from Birmingham Conservatoire.\u00a0 She then went on to receive a Postgraduate Certificate of Education in Secondary Music at Cambridge University.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Joanne started her career in music education teaching in the Cayman Islands and then relocating to New Zealand for 8 years, finally becoming Head of Performance at Massey High School in Auckland.\u00a0 With a young family in tow, Joanne has returned to Doncaster becoming a Music Specialist in the primary sector.\u00a0 She enjoys organising and preparing Choirs and ensembles for events within the community and further afield.\u00a0 Joanne joined the Doncaster Wheatsheaf Singers as their accompanist in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>Simon Corner, DEPUTY MD &amp; ACCOMPANIST<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Simon started playing for the choir in 1997 while he was studying at Hull University.\u00a0 He initially accompanied the Junior Choir before making the leap to playing for the main group as well.\u00a0 Simon left the choir in 2014 due to family commitments but still steps in as deputy accompanist and musical director as required.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Simon currently plays for Gainsborough Choral Society and is the Organist at St Hugh of Lincoln Church in Cantley.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row gap=&#8221;35&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; onclick=&#8221;link_image&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>Dorothy Miller, CHAIR\/SECRETARY<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dorothy (known as Dot!) first joined the choir in 1961 in what was then the training choir, moving on to sing in performances a few months later.\u00a0 She took a short break from singing when her children were young but remained a member of the committee.\u00a0 Starting as the choir PR Officer she gradually moved to become the secretary, taking on more responsibilities after John Barker had a stroke in 1980.\u00a0 After Mr Barker\u2019s death Dot became Chairman of the group and is responsible for organising all the concerts, including tours away, and generally keeping everything running smoothly!<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row gap=&#8221;35&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; onclick=&#8221;link_image&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">Catherine Rusby, VICE CHAIR\/SAFEGUARDING OFFICER<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Catherine joined the choir 11 years ago after seeing an advert asking for new members.\u00a0 She had always wanted to be in a choir and has loved every minute since she made the decision to join.\u00a0 She has recently taken on the role of Vice Chair and has also stepped up as the choir\u2019s Safeguarding Officer.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row gap=&#8221;35&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; onclick=&#8221;link_image&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>Diane Morley, TREASURER<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Diane loved to sing when she was little and so when her family heard about the choir through a family friend they took her along for an audition.\u00a0 She found it nerve wracking at first, especially as she didn\u2019t know anyone so her Dad told her to give it three months and then see how she felt.\u00a0 That was in 1973 and she\u2019s still here!\u00a0 Now Diane is the choir\u2019s treasurer and manages the choir bank accounts and other financial tasks.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row gap=&#8221;35&#8243; Now she is the assistant treasurer and deals with keeping track of member subscriptions each week as well as acting as a representative for the second sopranos.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row gap=&#8221;35&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; onclick=&#8221;link_image&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>Marie Pearson, LIBRARIAN<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Marie first joined the choir 51 years ago.\u00a0 She left after getting married but re-joined 23 years ago and doesn\u2019t regret the decision for a moment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She is responsible for all the sheet music used by the choir members, including filing and storing old pieces away and making sure all current music is signed out and returned on time.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row gap=&#8221;35&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; onclick=&#8221;link_image&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>Patricia Walters, CHOIR REPRESENTATIVE<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Patricia, (known as Trish to most of the choir), first joined the choir age 11 after hearing about the group from her next door neighbour.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She left briefly when she was 25 to spend more time with family but was drawn back a few years later.\u00a0 She now represents the second sopranos on the committee and is responsible for looking after the CD\u2019s at concerts and events.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row gap=&#8221;35&#8243;
